Delhi Approves Right-to-Service Bill for Faster Citizen Services
New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet has approved a Bill to make time-bound delivery of government services a legal right, marking a major governance reform aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery. The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the proposed legislation will give citizens a legal entitlement to receive notified government services within a stipulated timeframe. The move is intended to streamline administrative processes, reduce delays, and strengthen accountability among government departments.
The government said the reform is designed to enhance the quality of public service delivery by ensuring that citizens can access essential services in a timely and transparent manner.
