Electricity to get costlier in Delhi! Those consuming more than 500 units will face a direct financial impact
New Delhi: Electricity consumers in Delhi are set to face a major shock. The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has today granted permission to the three power companies—BRPL, BYPL, and TPDDL—to impose an additional charge known as the Power Purchase Adjustment Charge (PPAC) for April 2026. This is the first monthly PPAC in Delhi; previously, it used to take place every three months. In this scenario, electricity prices in the capital could rise by 1% to 3.30%. Electricity rates will now be reviewed on a monthly basis. It is being said that electricity bills will increase for consumption exceeding 500 units. This will not affect those consuming 200–400 units. Electricity bills for the month of June will be higher.
