High Jumper Sarvesh Kushare Secures Third Place in Monaco Diamond League Debut
MONACO: National record holder Sarvesh Kushare made an impressive Diamond League debut by finishing third in the men’s high jump event in Monaco, becoming only the fourth Indian athlete to secure a top-three finish in the prestigious competition.
The 31-year-old cleared 2.12m, 2.16m, 2.20m, 2.23m, and 2.26m on his first attempts before failing to clear 2.28m in three tries. His performance came just weeks after he set a new national record of 2.31m at the National Inter-State Championships.
Kushare now joins an elite list of Indian athletes to finish on the Diamond League podium, alongside Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, long jumper Murali Sreeshankar, and former discus thrower Vikas Gowda, marking another milestone for Indian athletics on the global stage.
