Nepal Devotee Dies During Amarnath Yatra; Four Pilgrims Hurt in Separate Accident
BANIHAL/JAMMU: A 61-year-old Amarnath Yatra pilgrim from Nepal died after falling critically ill while returning from the holy cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Banihal, officials said on Friday. The pilgrim reportedly became unconscious near the Navyuga Tunnel while travelling back via the Baltal route.
The deceased was identified as Krishan Dev Thakur, a resident of Mohatri in Kathmandu, Nepal. Following the medical emergency, he was rushed to the healthcare facility at the Lamber Yatra Ground, then referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Banihal for further treatment. As his condition deteriorated, doctors shifted him to the Government Medical College in Anantnag.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact cause of death, and further formalities are being carried out.
