Heavy Monsoon Rains Disrupt Life in Sirmaur; Schools Closed in Paonta
NAHAN (HP): Heavy monsoon rains lashing Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district for the past 36 hours have caused widespread disruption, forcing the Paonta administration to declare a holiday for all educational institutions on Friday as a precautionary measure.
Officials said incessant rainfall has triggered landslides in several rural areas of the district, disrupting normal life and raising concerns about public safety. However, no casualty has been reported.
Authorities said the district’s major rivers, including the Tons, Yamuna, Bata, Giri, and Markanda, along with several seasonal streams, are flowing in full spate due to the continuous rainfall. Residents have been urged to stay away from rivers, streams, and other vulnerable areas as the administration remains on alert and closely monitors the situation.
