Police Tighten Security at Jantar Mantar After Sonam Wangchuk Moved to Hospital

NEW DELHI: Security was intensified in and around Jantar Mantar and across parts of the New Delhi district on Saturday after activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to a hospital following a deterioration in his health during a 20-day hunger strike. Police said a brief commotion broke out during the transfer, prompting authorities to tighten security arrangements.

Heavy deployment of Delhi Police personnel and paramilitary forces has been made at Jantar Mantar and nearby areas to maintain law and order. Barricades have been erected at key locations, with security personnel regulating the movement of protesters and visitors to prevent any untoward incident, officials said.
