Six Killed in Deadly Road Mishap in Telangana’s Suryapet
HYDERABAD: Six people, including five women, were killed and at least 12 others injured after a private electric bus rammed into a truck from behind in Telangana’s Suryapet district on Wednesday morning, police said.
The accident occurred around 5.15 am in Kodad mandal on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway as the bus was travelling to Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. Police said heavy industrial pillars being carried by the truck struck the front of the bus after a securing chain snapped, killing passengers seated there.
Two injured passengers were in critical condition and shifted to a hospital in Vijayawada. Overspeeding is suspected to have caused the accident, while police are also examining whether the truck had hit a road divider before the collision.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy condoled the deaths and directed officials to ensure advanced medical treatment for the injured. Further investigation is underway.
