Tamil Nadu CM to Distribute Job Appointment Letters to Karur Stampede Victims’ Families

KARUR (TAMIL NADU): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is set to visit Karur on Friday to hand over government appointment orders to members of 32 families affected by the tragic stampede that occurred during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally last year. The visit, being held under tight security arrangements, marks Vijay’s first official trip to the district since assuming office as chief minister in May.

During the visit, the chief minister will also meet and console the families of the 41 people who lost their lives in the stampede at the TVK rally on September 27, 2025, in which he had participated. In addition, Vijay is scheduled to interact with party workers and the public during a ‘Makkal Santhippu’ (meet the people) programme at 11 am at the grounds of a private college on the Karur-Salem Highway.

TVK General Secretary and State Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources N. Anand said elaborate security and crowd-control measures have been put in place for the event. He said only 5,000 people with QR code-based entry passes will be permitted to attend the programme and urged the public to cooperate with the police by adhering to all safety guidelines.
