August 15 to Be Celebrated as ‘India Day’ in Several US States
NEW YORK: Several US states are issuing special proclamations declaring August 15, 2026, as “India Day” to commemorate India’s Independence Day and recognise the country’s rich heritage, diversity and the growing contributions of the Indian-American community.
Delaware is the latest state to make the declaration, following New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. Delaware Governor Matthew Meyer signed the proclamation, noting that the state is strengthened by the many cultures and traditions represented in its communities, including its growing Indian-American population, whose contributions have helped shape the state’s character.
