Heavy Overnight Showers Lash Mumbai; Several Suburban Areas Record 100 mm+ Rain

Mumbai: Mumbai woke up to intense overnight rainfall on Monday, with several suburban areas recording more than 100 mm of rain in just four hours, leading to waterlogging and temporary traffic disruptions in key locations, according to civic officials.

Data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) showed that Veena Nagar in Mulund was the worst-hit area, receiving 160.4 mm of rainfall between midnight and 4 am. Versova in the western suburbs also witnessed extremely heavy showers, recording 156.8 mm during the same period.

The torrential rain inundated stretches of LBS Road in Mulund and the Andheri subway, briefly disrupting vehicular movement. Authorities said the waterlogging affected traffic in several pockets before conditions gradually improved.
