Political Storm: TVK MLA Claims Rs 30 Crore Offer to Join DMK, Death Threats
TUTICORIN (Tamil Nadu): Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA G. Saravanan on Tuesday alleged that he was offered between Rs 30 crore and Rs 100 crore to defect to the ruling DMK and claimed he received death threats after rejecting the alleged attempts.
Addressing reporters at his party office, the Srivaikuntam legislator said several individuals had approached him with lucrative offers in what he described as an attempt at political “horse-trading.” Saravanan claimed he possesses evidence to support his allegations and said he is prepared to produce it before the appropriate authorities if required.
The legislator accused unnamed persons of attempting to influence his political allegiance through financial inducements and intimidation, describing the alleged actions as a serious threat to democratic values.
“Several individuals approached me directly with huge offers such as Rs 30 crore, Rs 50 crore, or even Rs 100 crore if I joined the DMK. When I refused, they began harassing me and issued open death threats, warning that they would eliminate me if I did not comply,” the MLA alleged.
