Suspected Terrorists Kill Policeman in Anantnag; Massive Search Operation Underway
Anantnag: A head constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed after suspected terrorists opened fire on a police party in Anantnag district on Wednesday. The attack occurred around 12.30 pm at Lal Chowk in Anantnag town, where the police team was deployed on duty.
The deceased was identified as Head Constable Aashiq Hussain, a resident of Beerwah in Budgam district. He was rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Anantnag but later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the attack, security forces sealed off the area and launched a massive search operation to track down the assailants. Additional personnel have been deployed, and security has been intensified. The incident comes amid heightened security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, with forces maintaining strict vigil to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
