NBEMS approves additional 6 postgraduate medical seats in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Medical seats to increase in the state. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi, has approved six additional postgraduate medical seats for Odisha. Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH), Koraput, has been granted recognition for 4 seats in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G) for DNB (Diplomate of National Board). The District Head Hospital, Puri has been granted recognition for 2 MBBS Diploma seats in Pediatrics. This will provide a significant boost to medical education and specialist healthcare in the state. This recognition has been granted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. That will facilitate strengthening the health system and healthcare infrastructure in the KBK region and coastal districts, improving patient-doctor ratios and ensuring maternal and child care services. For this, Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his response, he thanked Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for their efforts and said that the expansion of this seat will strengthen Odisha’s health services.
