The TMC is divided into three factions, not two… some are rebels, some are with Mamata, and others are silent!

West Bengal: As soon as Mamata Banerjee lost power in West Bengal, her party began crumbling like a house of cards. Following the fragmentation of the legislative party, a split among TMC MPs has been confirmed. A rebel group of the TMC claims that 20 of the party’s from 28 Lok Sabha MPs have decided to form a separate group and support the BJP-led NDA. This is a major setback for Mamata Banerjee, who has already lost control over the TMC legislative party in the Bengal Assembly. Meanwhile, the dissident faction led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has claimed the support of 20 MPs; among those, 14 had attended a meeting with Suvendu Adhikari at the residence of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav. Those who are close to Mamata Banerjee, they put the number of rebel MPs at 12.

Mamata Banerjee’s TMC currently appears to be split into three factions, rather than two. While one faction of TMC MPs is with Lok Sabha MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, another group of MPs still stands firmly with Mamata Banerjee. Apart from this, there is a third faction that is in ‘silent mode’; it is seen neither with the rebel faction nor with Mamata Banerjee.
