Bihar Gets Record Rs 10,000 Crore Rail Budget This Fiscal, Says Vaishnaw
PATNA: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday said the Centre has allocated a record budget of more than Rs 10,000 crore for the development of rail infrastructure in Bihar in the current financial year, underscoring the government’s focus on expanding connectivity and modernising the railway network in the state.
Speaking during his day-long visit to Bihar, Vaishnaw said the record allocation would accelerate key railway projects, strengthen infrastructure and improve passenger services across the state. The minister also announced the launch of a new express train service connecting Chapra with New Delhi, providing enhanced rail connectivity for passengers travelling between Bihar and the national capital.
Highlighting Bihar’s growing contribution to the country’s railway manufacturing sector, Vaishnaw said locomotives produced at the Marhowrah locomotive factory are being exported overseas. “Locomotives from the state are being exported. Today, the 51st locomotive engine will be exported from the Marhowrah plant in Bihar to an African country,” he said.
Vaishnaw’s visit comes amid the Centre’s continued emphasis on upgrading railway infrastructure, improving connectivity and boosting industrial development in Bihar through increased investment in the rail sector.
